The Office of Assessment and Accreditation maintains the SSU Assessment Resource SharePoint site which houses assessment plan and report templates and examples of learning outcomes, rubrics, and assessment plans. On the SharePoint site, you can also view recordings of assessment workshops and find resources specifically for co-curricular professionals. - SSU’s Assessment Fellows. The Assessment Fellows program provides peer support for
SSU faculty and co-curricular professionals for any stage of the assessment process:
whether you’re starting an assessment process from scratch or overhauling an existing

- Dr. Thomas Bunting. Dr. Bunting is a faculty member in the Social Sciences Department and is the Assessment Fellow for the College of Arts and Sciences.
- Professor Chuck Davis. Professor Davis is a faculty member in the Fine, Digital, and Performing Arts Department and is the Assessment Fellow for the General Education Program.
- Dr. Amanda Hedrick. Dr. Hedrick is the Director of Campus Partnerships and is the Assessment Fellow for Co-Curricular Programming.
- Dr. Ryan Powell. Dr. Powell is a faculty member in Natural Sciences and and serves as the Assessment fellow in the General Education Program.
- Dr. Marc Scott. Dr. Scott is a faculty member in English and Humanities and serves as the Assessment fellow in the General Education Program.
- The Faculty Assessment and Accreditation Committee also assists faculty by providing feedback on learning outcomes, assessment plans, and curriculum maps. The committee regularly provides feedback on assessment plans in the year programs undergo program review, but it can also provide feedback on assessment plans in development. - Barbara Walvoord’s (2010) Assessment Plain and Simple. A copy of the most recent edition is available for checkout in the Clark Memorial Library and copies have also been shared with all department chairs.
- Linda Suskie’s (2018) Assessing Student Learning: A Common Sense Guide. A copy of this text is also available for checkout in the Clark Memorial library.
- AAUP VALUE Rubrics. The Association of American Colleges and Universities developed a series of rubrics for learning across the curriculum. These are particularly helpful for General Education assessment.
- The University of Hawai’i at Mānoa’s Assessment and Curriculum development office developed a list of common misconceptions and realities about assessment.
- Association for the Assessment of Learning in Higher Education (AALHE). The AALHE website provides a number of helpful resources for co-curricular, academic, and general education assessment, and it also houses useful assessment scholarship and includes information about AALHE’s annual conference.
- National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA). The NILOA website features useful articles and reports for people developing assessment processes for the first time and for faculty and staff familiar with assessment. The “Assessment in Practice” articles are particularly helpful.
