Computer Engineering Technology Bachelor’s Degree
Build the things that think. In Shawnee State's B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology, you'll work across hardware and software — from circuit design to embedded programming to AI-enabled robotics — using an Imagine-Design-Make approach taught by faculty who've done the work.

Program Overview
The Computer Engineering Technology Bachelor’s Degree balances courses in software and hardware design in a practical approach to computer systems. Courses cover theory in the field but with a “hands-on” approach, showing “how” as well as “why” and using an Imagine-Design-Make philosophy.
Students learn to program devices ranging from simple micro-controllers to complex AI-enabled robotics, preparing for many opportunities in a range of fields. Courses cover a host of skill sets including electrical engineering technology, advanced circuit design, embedded operating system programming, network programming, compiler design, and algorithms.
What makes this degree program unique is its dedicated emphasis on hands-on application and its balanced approach between hardware and software while teaching the most current computer science and the most relevant subject needed in industry. Students are prepared to directly apply their knowledge and new skills in real-world challenges on the job as soon as they start their career.
SSU’s Computer Engineering Technology program offers tremendous value, with competitively low tuition rates, scholarship opportunities, and instruction from experts with years of professional experience in their fields, all set in state-of-the-art classrooms in a modern campus setting with low student-to-teacher ratios. Students are much more than just a number and get to know their instructor very well through the duration of the program.

Why Study Computer Engineering Technology Bachelor’s Degree at Shawnee University
You'll learn both sides of the stack. Most programs pick one — hardware or software. Here, you do both, which makes you far more useful on the day-one job.
Your courses are taught by working practitioners. Faculty bring active industry experience to the classroom, so what you learn maps to what hiring managers expect.
Class sizes stay small. You'll get one-on-one time with instructors and the kind of mentorship that makes a difference when you're working through tough projects.
Tuition stays low — and locked in. The Shawnee Advantage Tuition Guarantee freezes your rate for four years.
Beyond the General Education Program (GEP), the B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology includes:
- 11 credit hours of mathematics
- 8 credit hours of natural science
- 10 credit hours of Electricity and Electronics Technology
- 60 credit hours of Computer Engineering Technology core
Coursework covers advanced circuit design, embedded operating system programming, microcontrollers, network programming, compiler design, algorithms, and emerging areas like AI-enabled robotics and the Internet of Things.
